From Murder Hornets to Covid-19, this year just straight up blew. Photography wise, I could probably say the same thing. I did get a chance to see some things, but mostly before the lockdown. Well, another year has come and passed. This year has been a different year photographically. I have shot way more sports than I have anything else. This is due to kids being involved in way more sports than usual. I don't share those as those are for me mostly, but it's awesome to try and compare your shots to those in the sports illustrated magazine. 2018 was a challenging year for me photographically. I found it hard to push myself creatively due to commitments, motivation, and overall lack of things to shoot. I didn't see the usual eagle migration, which was a bummer. Most of the sunsets that I saw this year were not from the back of my camera, but rather from the yard (this was a positive). I did get to see the Alder Imageshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10182294630852095924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-743373981465212570.post-68148144609611698242017-12-22T16:10:00.000-06:002017-12-22T16:10:00.886-06:002017 Year End Review
Well, it is that time again when we look back at the year that has past. I always enjoy looking back through the photos from the year and events that I was able to be a part of. This year was not the crazy it has been in the past, but there were still lots of cool things that happened and things to be a part of.
So here is what happened this year.

Warning...massive photo post!!!
Last weekend a couple of photographer friends and I made our way to Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue for a walk about. I had never been, so I thought it would be a very interesting to say the least. One of the things I really wanted to see was the Raptor Recovery of the area. I have seen many demonstrations of the magnificent birds they have at Alder Imageshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10182294630852095924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-743373981465212570.post-46746923484085632652017-08-13T11:17:00.000-05:002017-08-13T11:17:29.827-05:00TWIP Focus Stacking a Praying Mantis
So this week, I found a baby praying mantis in the backyard and decided to capture it for my collection. Praying Mantis are some of my favorite insects just due to their shear coolness. I am unsure if it was a male or a female, but believe it to be a female as it didn't appear to have wings. Females are larger and cannot fly due to them not having wings. My vehicle has been having trouble for a couple weeks, so I decided to try and play mechanic and fix it. So far so good. I decided to run to Heron Haven on my drive around town to make sure everything was working, and thought it was about butterfly season...just maybe there would be some there.

I looked on line for solar filters for the upcoming eclipse and they were either top of the line filters that I would probably only use once in my lifetime or super cheap that got horrible reviews. An adventure to Heron Haven this spring revealed some very interesting little creatures. I was initially going to view the baby goslings but their mommies were a little more aggressive than I wanted to deal with being with my 4 year old. I do love a good sunset. Over the last week we have had a couple.
